The LonWorks Gateway has 10-serial, 2-Ethernet, 1 LonWorks port enabling data transfer between serial and Ethernet devices and LonWorks. An extensive library of drivers provides easy interoperability between a variety of devices used in building automation, HVAC and fire control industries.

enable devices using one protocol to communicate with devices using another
protocol. An example is a fire alarm panel using a proprietary manufacturer's
protocol needing to supply alarm information to a building automation system using LonWorks.
In a single, comprehensive package the LonWorks Gatewayprovides the hardware and
software necessary for this translation.
The LonWorks Gateway includes eight RS232 ports, two RS485 ports, two Ethernet (10baseT) ports and one LonWorks port to interface to the devices. Some key features about the LonWorks capability of the FS-B4011 are:
- Allows binding of SNVTs and UNVTs
- Provides capacity for all the network variables contained in the 3rd party device and controller – up to the LonWorks limit of 4095 points
- Capable of supporting polled and synchronized modifiers for network variables
- Capable of reading and translating user network variable types (UNVTs) to standard network variable types (SNVTs)
- Configurable to supply a .xif file for use in LNS tools and utilities
